Mobile-First: Why Your Site Must Work on Phones

The Phone Is the Default

In Indonesia especially, the majority of web traffic comes from phones. Google also indexes the mobile version of your site first. Designing for desktop and shrinking it down is backwards.

What Mobile-First Means

You design for the small screen first, then expand for larger ones. It forces clarity: you keep what matters and cut what doesn't.

Common Mobile Failures

  • Tiny text and buttons too close to tap
  • Pop-ups that cover the whole screen
  • Images that take forever on mobile data
  • Menus that are awkward to use with a thumb

Get It Right

Test on a real phone, not just a resized browser. Make tap targets generous, keep forms short, and make your phone number and WhatsApp one tap away. If it feels effortless on a phone, it'll feel great everywhere.
